Call for Proposal - 2030

International Conference on Mercury as a Global Pollutant (ICMGP) 2030 Host City

The International Conference on Mercury as a Global Pollutant (ICMGP) is generally held every two years, hosted by different organizing committees and held in different countries. The conference brings together individuals interested in the science and management of mercury as a contaminant across local and global scales. The Scientific Steering Committee (SSC) of the ICMGP 2026 is now soliciting proposals for the organizing team and location for the ICMGP 2030.

To determine the interest of the possible location for ICMGP 2030, the bid process will work in two Phases:

Phase I: a proposal of maximum 15 pages is requested that has the following information:

• An introduction to the conference chair(s) and members of the Executive Committee, including positions and a brief description of experience, particularly pertaining to the science and management of mercury, and past experience organizing scientific meetings of approximately the scale of the ICMGP;
• A brief description of the conference theme;
• A brief description of the city where the conference would be held and its amenities, including hotel accommodations, facilities to accommodate travel of international participants, and options for conference tours;
• A brief explanation on why the conference should be held at the proposed host country and the city.
• A brief description of the conference facility, including a floor plan;
• Plans or opportunities for fundraising to provide supplemental support for student travel and participants from developing or emerging countries;
• An approximate date;
• Photos of facilities and location are encouraged.

Phase II:

Shortlisted candidates will also need give an oral presentation in Hyderabad, tentatively on Thursday, 08 October 2026, at a SSC meeting. The SSC will vote and the host city for ICMGP 2030 will be selected.

During the closing ceremony on Friday 09 October 2026, the host city for ICMGP 2030 will be announced.
